Dr Ellie Ellison

Senior Development Scientist and KTP Associate

Skilled research chemist with unique experience in organic-inorganic hybrid synthesis and recipient of a highly competitive Innovate UK KTP Fellowship.

Dr Ellie Ellison is Senior Development Scientist and KTP Associate at Bounce Biomedical, where she supports the development and translation of Bouncy Bioglass™ technology from the laboratories of Professor Julian Jones’ group at Imperial to Bounce Biomedicals manufacturing facility.

Ellie was awarded her PhD in Chemistry from Cardiff University, where her research focused on the design, synthesis and characterisation of advanced materials for sustainable technologies, including novel coordination complexes, polymer degradation systems and catalytic materials. Her doctoral work combined fundamental scientific research with practical applications, providing her with extensive experience in materials development, analytical characterisation and laboratory-based innovation.

As a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate, Ellie works at the interface between academia and industry, helping to translate cutting-edge scientific research into commercially valuable technologies. She has broad expertise across synthetic chemistry, materials science and laboratory operations, with experience in analytical techniques including NMR, FTIR, X-ray diffraction, DSC and gas chromatography. She has also played key roles in laboratory commissioning, regulatory compliance, SOP development, risk assessment and technical training, helping to establish robust research environments and operational best practices. Prior to joining Bounce Biomedical, she worked at LGC’s National Measurement Laboratory, contributing to the production and certification of internationally recognised reference standards within a highly regulated quality environment.

An accomplished scientific communicator, Ellie has presented her research at national and international conferences, including prize-winning presentations in catalysis and advanced materials research. At Bounce Biomedical, she provides the expertise required to translate and scale the novel chemistry that underpin Bouncy Bioglass™ formulation and acts as a critical liaison between the Company and the founding scientists, facilities and expertise at Imperial.
